MY MAIN REASON for having a Website is that I think estimation could be better taught!!  Children are often asked to make an estimate and then calculate or measure.  The children do not value the estimation process.  The Estimation part of this Website details my research and reasoning to help understand the estimation process.

You probably got here through your interest in estimation or as a skiing, diving or allotment friend or member of the family.

 
In either case, feel free to wander around the website but estimation is that as used by children in schools etc. and not the Statistical Tool.  The problem below is not one I would anticipate being given to children in school but you might want to have a look at it before going to the Estimation Link.

Which of the numbers described below is closest to   p⁴ ÷ 0.3   

a) Average number of children in a primary school in the UK.

b) Population of Chicago.

c) Monthly take home pay in Euros of secondary teachers in Berlin.

d) Height of average Frenchman in km.

e) Speed in cm/min of Olympic Gold medallists 100m Breaststroke.

f) Weight of average house cat in kg.
